The Regenerative Futures Research group (REFRAME) at Malmö University responds to the escalating climate and ecological crises by exploring the transformative potential of regenerative design practices toward more resilient societies.
In REFRAME, we seek to (re)envision possible futures and explore meaningful alternatives by asking what it means to strive for regenerative futures, and how such futures can be made tangible.
We work across a variety of themes, including food systems, bio-circular materials, related emerging economies and business models, to explore how regenerative design practices can restore ecological health, strengthen resilience, and inspire new ways of living, acting, producing and consuming. Through participatory action research and design, we aim to translate these practices into real-world impact and help shape futures in which both humans and nature can flourish.
We view regenerative design as a shared endeavour that can only be realised through collaboration. Regenerative thinking acknowledges that complex challenges appear different from every perspective, and that diverse viewpoints are essential to addressing them. By envisioning the hopeful futures that we aspire to contribute to, we can move beyond short-term barriers and open space for transformative change.
